Iceye to Supply McKenzie Intelligence Services With Flood Monitoring Service

By Rachel Jewett | November 11, 2021

Iceye has signed a deal to provide flood analysis to insurance tech company McKenzie Intelligence Services (MIS). This data will be used to deliver property loss numbers to the Lloyd’s market in the United Kingdom via the MIS Global Events Observer (GEO) platform.

Iceye will provide MIS with its flood depth measurement data, which it says can provide consistent flood depth data in near real-time for any location anywhere in the world. This data combines Iceye’s Synthetic Aperture Radar (SAR), which can see through clouds and darkness, and additional sources like river and tidal gauges, digital elevation models, ground sensors and watershed maps.

MIS pulls data from multiple sources into its platform to provide the insurance industry with property loss estimates for automated claims processing and reporting.

“We are very pleased to be joining forces with ICEYE on providing flood loss analysis to the Lloyd’s market,” says Forbes McKenzie, CEO of MIS. “This new partnership will add further value cases for Lloyd’s syndicates and deepen our understanding of flood risks.”

This agreement with MIS is similar to one Iceye struck with insurance company Swiss Re for flood monitoring earlier this year.
