Three years after the cyber attack on the KA-SAT network, Space Security Sentinel caught up with Phil Mar, VP/CTO of Engineering for Viasat, about how the operator is adapting its strategy to emerging cyber threats. After that interview, Bloomberg reported that Viasat was also one of the victims of the Salt Typhoon hack — which further demonstrates the ongoing cyber threats to satellite operators.
Mar is speaking on the Classified Program at CyberSat 2025, one of the only events offering a TS/SCI-level Classified Program focused on protecting space-based systems. We’re bringing together operators, engineers, intel officers, and mission owners actively defending our most critical domain. See this year’s program here.
If you find this valuable, share it with colleagues who care about securing space. Got feedback or story ideas? I’d love to hear from you.
